The radon testing campaign starts this autumn. The N1A EENI diagnosticians carry out the workstation study to evaluate the radon risk in the company and determine the areas concerned.
They install kits (depending on the study carried out). They send them to the independent analysis laboratory, follow the intervention (about two months)
They write the final analysis report and advise the client on how to reduce the radon concentration in the atmosphere (<300Bq/m³).
But what is Radon?
An odourless, colourless and inert radioactive gas. It is present in soils and is the main component of natural radioactivity. It migrates into the ambient air through the pores of the soil and the cracks of the rocks. In open spaces, radon is diluted in the atmosphere. In enclosed spaces where the air is confined (workplaces, cellars, crawl spaces, etc.), the radon concentration can soar.
The IARC classified it in 1987 as a definite lung carcinogen. (Responsible for ± 3000 deaths/year)
Who is concerned?
Everyone.
Employers are obliged to include radon in the risk assessment process. This applies to the entire territory without distinction of Radon Potential Zones, unlike establishments open to the public.
The restrictive list of activities, contained in the decree of 7 August 2008, is repealed since the decree 2018-437 of 4 June 2018.
